Exciting times here at Lever Gear. We received the first article CableKit samples on the last day of September and they are looking awesome!
We spent a few days playing around with the first articles and testing them out in various ways. We checked all the critical dimensions, assembled and disassembled them probably a hundred times. Tested out the cables in different use cases and they've been holding up to everything we've thrown at them.
As suspected, there are some minor modifications that need to be made to the tools to make sure everything is fitting nice and snug and working great. Those modifications have all been approved by Lever Gear and our vendor and they are moving forward with the adjustments.
We've also been putting the finishing touches on our packaging and instructions. If you look closely at the image below you can get a sneak preview of the CableKit box.
Now to the important business. We will be locking down our BackerKit surveys in two days so if you want to make any adjustments or add to your holiday gift supply, now is the time to do it. You will still be able to change your address up until shipping.
There are a few of you who still haven't filled out the survey. You know who you are. We've sent out several reminders through BackerKit so please check your inbox and spam folder for the link to your survey. If you can't find it, please email [email protected] and we'll get it sent to you stat.
Perhaps you're a little unclear on which CableKit options are right for you. We've had a few backers asking for guidance so we put together a short video to help you through the process.
I was reminded a couple weeks ago that China was on vacation for Golden Week. I hope everyone at the factory had a relaxing and fun vacation and is back in action and ready to crank out CableKits. What it means for us is that shipping will be delayed by about a week. This was an oversight on my part and I apologize for not taking this into account. We expect to receive our first inventory in early November and will be shipping out ASAP.
As a reminder to international backers, due to popular demand, we have added an option to upgrade to Fedex International Priority shipping for only $8. If you want to upgrade to this option (highly recommended) simply go to your BackerKit survey page by following the links in your survey emails. Email us if you need us to resend the link. You will need to add $8 via credit card and then add the FEDEX add-on to your order. If you choose not to upgrade you will ship with our standard international shipping via USPS to your country's postal service.
What are the differences?
Standard International Shipping - Estimated 1-3 weeks plus there are sometimes extra delays in customs and it can take up to 5 weeks in some countries. Tracking is door to door in many countries** but some countries only track to the U.S. border.
Fedex International Priority- 1-3 days with door to door tracking on all shipments.
In either case, you may need to pay import duties based on your country's laws.

We're getting excited!! We should be receiving our first articles next week. We will test the final fit and function to ensure everything is working great and make any final tweaks to the tooling before our initial production run. We're still on track to begin shipping late October or early November.

Just a quick heads up that we're putting the final touches on the surveys and we'll be sending them out early next week. Keep an eye out. We won't be locking these down until late October just before we're ready to begin fulfillment so you will have a chance to change your address or other responses before then. It's still a good idea to fill out your surveys now though so it's done. It also helps us by giving us a better feel for which options people want when we order our initial batch of inventory.
We're still in the production tooling phase. I will likely be heading to China late Sept or Early Oct to inspect the first article assemblies. We did get some cable wire samples a couple weeks ago for testing and they are looking good. See image below.

Just wanted to share a few updates on the CableKit and the goings on at Lever Gear. First, as a reminder, surveys will be going out in the last week of August so please be on the lookout. You will be able to edit your survey at any time until we lock them down before shipping.
On the production front, we officially turned on the iphone cable tooling. There were a few snags trying to source the adapters that go with it but we’ve worked through them. It took longer than we would have liked and we’ve eaten into our scheduling buffer, but we’re still on track to begin fulfillment in October and have all orders shipped in November.
We also wanted to let our backers know that we’re having our semi-annual factory seconds sale on Toolcards while supplies last. Factory Seconds Toolcards are perfectly functional but didn’t pass our quality control for cosmetic reasons.
